I tried harvesting apples once.
I was at the end of my physical rope and acting a bit uncoordinated. Got a bad sprained ankle by landing funny when I jumped off the back of a truck. And I was grateful to use that as an excuse to give up on that job. Agriculture is hard! There are an awful lot of Americans who might think they would like it (or more likely think that their neighbor should give it a try), but honestly you need to be pretty hungry to be motivated to keep a job like that. I think we are too wealthy, well-fed, and spoiled.
