It's more like watching a circus than an Olympic competition.
I believe you'll find the same thing at the Republican convention. The commentators didn't seem to judge the performances as much as appreciate them. Sort of like watching a fireworks display.
I didn't note any advocacy, any promotion of the candidate for president, or any other activity I would describe as biased. I thought the performances were appreciated, though.
When the Rs put on their show I suspect the coverage will be the same unless it's on Fox, and then I believe the commentators will be a part of the show, biased narrators of the ad.
