Speaking of schadenfreude

Arrell, have you noticed that, until I posted, you've been talking to yourself? Perhaps you're taking a bit too much glee in this story.

Unplanned (or one should say, more accurately, foolishly unanticipated in the heat of passion) pregnancy is the most common of human tragedies, one that's universally swept under the rug through a variety of conventions developed over thousands of years. Bristol's story will resonate with a surprisingly large number of people.

Looking at it in terms of cold political calculation, Republicans will exploit the story by spinning the narrative their way: "See? Bristol accepted the just punishment for the Sin of Sex as ordained by God, having to bear and raise a child, and marry the donor. If only more young women were like Bristol!".

Well, of course, lots of young women are just like Bristol, and have parents just like Sarah. And the Republicans, who claim to have known about this ahead of time, must surely be counting on that.

Personally, I'm inclined to let the Republicans take the low road alone, and schadenfreude is soooo Republican.
