A true God, a living God, an all-powerful, omniscient God, is also a God of chicken bones. God is in charge of the cast of said bones and the reading of said bones as they go on to foretell an outcome which was either known to God OR that God now has to make sure happens.

The chicken should have been blessed prior to massacre and the bones blessed after the chicken was eaten, then remaining flesh boiled off the bones, the soup made and eaten. (All of which is a help if one is casting the bones to see if they are going to get well!)

And then the bones blessed again. Once you've gotten those ol' bones in shape God can do anything with them.
