re: I feel a soap box comin' on...

I understand what you are feeling. I don’t have any debit (I paid that off years ago) and I can pay the bills each month, but I am not making enough to save, I will have kids in college soon. I resolved the fact that I will probably never retire. Just as well as I don’t think I’ll live that long with the threat of cancer always behind me.

Anyway, high taxes concern me. I can’t afford to pay anymore. Obama scares me on this front- scares me a lot. There is no way we can have all his government programs with it not hitting me with higher taxes, or in the workplace. The money has to come from somewhere and it’s always us Middle Class that gets screwed. Obama can not do all those things he wants the government to do without it hurting the Middle Class- I don’t care what he says. I don not want to pay any more taxes. I want smaller government and less taxes.

I wish we had a true ‘smaller government’ conservative, but there hasn’t been one in Washington for years. Bush certainly is not one. Palin has some hope of being one.

Getting away from my personal concerns, my main issue is energy independence I said months ago on this sight that is the most important issue this country is facing and I would support whichever candidate had the best plan. I feel energy independence will help our economy and national security on such a huge level. I am glad to see everyone jump on the bandwagon. America is finally getting it.

At least this is an important issue for both candidates. I did hear McCain say it’s his number one issue. I like his plan better than Obama’s. Obama is too afraid of nuclear energy. He said he will support it IF we can make it safer. We need to be doing nuclear now, not years from now.

At least both sides are seeing that this is a top priority for America.
