Lehrer was one of the few voices of sanity and reason from the post Beat/pre-Beatle era. Like Mort Sahl, he was so far out in left field he flew in under the radar undetected, if you don't mind a few mixed metaphors. I'm delighted to hear he's still alive and well remembered on the internet.
