I don't own a Porsche,
and I've never been on a horse in my life, but doing it "virtually" still holds no attraction for me. No, I'm not denying there are great applications for technology like this, but for me, at least, entertainment is not one of them.
OTOH, imagine an astronaut prowling through his ship, with vital data on all the machinery and systems around him , gathered from shipboard sensors, superimposed on his visual field. For that matter, imagine the astronaut safe in his quarters, taking a virtual inspection tour of those parts of the ship's hull subjected to a deadly solar storm.
