You won't be able to easily eradicate American Muslims, especially those who were born here, or have been here legally for a while,(maybe for generations!), but you can make them afraid, constantly looking over their shoulder, afraid to be Muslim in public, all because the word will be out that they are not REAL Americans. It will "keep them in their place", like burning crosses in their neighborhoods. They'll be fair game for every knuckledragging vigilante patriot gun punk out there.
The vast majority of Muslims in the US are either citizens or legal. "Illegal" Muslims are not an issue, they never were. Deportation is not a viable option. Only a deliberate trampling of their rights (and everyone elses) will do what you want to do.
We ARE able to round up and deport illegals perfectly well. Obama has deported record numbers of them, so many that the Latino community calls him the "Deporter-in-Chief". The reason we have an illegal alien problem is that laws against hiring them are either non-existent, ignored, or unenforced. And why? Because businessmen want cheap labor and Republican legislators do whatever businessmen want. Do you dispute the fact that if hiring illegals became illegal and if bosses who did so went to prison the problem would go away? Unfortunately, most American Muslims are middle class, have good jobs or own their own businesses. Like the Japanese internees, we won't just round them up into camps, we'll get to divide up their property amongst the rest of us.
Israel is a great example. Like they don't have a terrorism problem, in spite of all their profiling and their political incorrectness. And the "illegals" they are "profiling" are people who have lived in that land for thousands of years. No one on the Right "derides" the Israelis because Israel plays such a big part in their fundamentalist Christian apocalyptic fantasies. Its not that long ago Jews weren't allowed to join the local Country Club.
All people who come into this country already go through a vetting process. No one disputes it should be strictly followed for applicants from certain dangerous parts of the world. Jimmy Carter passed a law restricting immigration from Iran, but he didn't pick on a religion to identify his targets. No one is trying to stop prudence, no matter how much the Right claims Democrats are trying to stop it.
And "we guys" are not the ones denying people on the terror watch list the right to buy guns, don't hang that on the Libs. Its you guys. That's NRA and gun lobby policy. Heaven forbid we cut into corporate sales and profits.
Sorry Rob. Hate is the only suggestion that survives scrutiny. And once again, I'm not saying you, or Republicans in general are hateful. Most people don't even know if who they run into on the street is a Muslim or not. But hate is the key that unlocks all those know-nothing voters that Republicans need to win elections any more. Just think, if it wasn't for them, the Right wouldn't have a Trump problem.
