re: Barney Frank should be dismissed from office
From the The Hill
House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank (D-Mass.) on Monday said “a great deal of progress†has been made on the $700 billion Wall Street bailout bill, even though congressional Democrats have supplemented the administration’s proposal with their own versions.
But Frank, speaking to dozens of reporters on Monday, said the sense of urgency was not as great as the White House has made it out to be.
Frank said he and Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.), chairman of the Senate Banking Committee, are very close on agreeing to language that will represent the Democrats' counter-proposal to what Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson sent to Congress over the weekend.
Anybody see the the pattern (from my bold quote) here from Chairman Frank?
"These two entities—Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac—are not facing any kind of financial crisis," said Representative Barney Frank of Massachusetts, the ranking Democrat on the Financial Services Committee. "The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing."
What I would like to know is why these two Frank and Dodd are still allowed to be on the House Financial Services Committee and Senate Banking Committee trying to negotiate when they were the main ones who blocked any attempts to put regulations on the way loans were made which caused this historic disaster in the first place.
