You may have forgotten. The Republicans controlled Congress and the Presidency for about 6 of the last years this has been building up.

And the Republicans still control the Presidency, with it's veto power.

The net effect is that the Republicans have done everything they wanted to do while the Democrats were a minority and out of power. And what is the Republican ideology regarding financial markets? (Ans. below)

That changes matters, doesn't it?

Now you can see it wasn't Carter, nor Bill Clinton, not even the tooth fairy. It was a combination of Reagan, Bush the First, and Bush the Second along with their Republican henchmen. It was Conservative, completely free, unregulated, wild and crazy financial policies regarding margin, leverage and deriatives, wasn't it?

Turn toward the light, now open your eyes just a little bit, squinting is OK, and as your pupils get used to that big wide world you'll start to understand it. And I'll do what I can to help.
