House GOP members are rebelling against Bush's plan.

Another point that's becoming pretty obvious - McCain's dumb political stunt has hurt the congressional negotiations much more than it helped them. Much progress towards a deal had been made before his completely unwarranted intrusion into the process. Perhaps McCain did it on purpose, to sabotage any deal and prolong the crisis? Perhaps he's so scared of debating Obama, who's much more intelligent, wiser and more eloquent on both foreign and domestic issues, that he'll do anything to keep the crisis going and provide himself with an excuse to avoid debating Obama??

John McCain is a bona fide war hero. Not very well qualified for the Presidency, but he's a real war hero, no question about it.

So why then is he acting so foolishly and cowardly now??
