As I said, I'm not enthusiastically on board with the Republican plan either, but I like that somebody is saying "hold on, let's see if there's water in the pool, first."

All the "plans" are mutating at such a rate that it could go from "barely acceptable" to "utter dreck" in five minutes. Since much of the sausage is being made where nobody can see it, I'm not getting information, even through sources that are normally pretty fast with this kind of thing. Add to that two political parties trying to score points over the other one, and it's all loads of fun.

I have never seen a good result from "panic" legislation. A small part of me thinks the best thing that could happen would be for Congress to just recess and let Wall Street work something out themselves.

Ironically, banks on "Main Street" aren't doing that badly.
