It is not an attractive trait, no matter how much you feel justified. There are subtler ways to make a point and sometimes even give people a giggle while doing so. You might try learning how to do that. It's much more satisfying and doesn't garner hard feelings or contempt.
Tom is a good man, no matter how wrong-headed some of us feel his politics. He still has a right to his opinions as do you.
