Have Iran, North Korea, China invaded another country this past decade?
If you take it past the last decade, or get a little more subtle with the term "invade," it gets a little fuzzier. Iran hasn't moved its armies into another country, but is heavily supporting Hezbollah and other armed groups in other nations, including Iraq. North Korea certainly tried to take over South Korea, and was stopped by armed force. China's occupation of Tibet still stands, and while some people justify it based on ancient history, it would be interesting to re-work the borders of Europe based on who owned what piece of turf a hundred years ago.
Iraq invaded two nations in my own lifetime. It's not going to do that any more.
The border of the Soviet empire used to be a lot closer to you than it is now, and without the deterrent of 300,000 Americans in Europe and a nuclear strike force, that border could have wound up on the other side of you. Think about that for a while.
Very often, a country's worst enemy is the one right next door...And this precludes the use of nuclear bombs. Simply because the invading country will also get hit by the effects of the bombs.
Besides, why would a country want to spread radioactive wastes into another, it plans to occupy?
Why would a country use nuclear bombs against another one if the purpose is not to occupy it?
Why would someone fly a plane into a building or drive a bomb into a market knowing they were going to die too? A leader of Iran is already on record as saying the destruction--not occupation, destruction--of Israel would be worth the loss of many Iranians. How much are you willing to bet on the rationality of such people?
I hope Obama will be able to change this.
Have you been listening to his speeches lately? He's probably more likely to invade Pakistan than McCain is.
