A bigger bottleneck. Much more recent, too.

Sometime over 6,000 years ago the Earth's human population was increased from O to 1 then 2. And then the Big Bang, and it went from 3 to 4 to 5. After a series of bangs it increased in The Great Expansion.

And then came The Great Deluge, and Earth's population dwindled down to one family. After enduring many privations that family found room to procreate amongst themselves; husband cleaved unto wife, and unto daughter and mother-in-law as son cleaved unto sister, and so on until there were enough cousins to cleave unto. (At some point sons started cleaving unto brothers, and male cousins, and sheep but that's another story.) Then it came to resemble the British Royal Family of today, a splendid example of tradition personified. And the human race has continued ever since.

The effects on the human gene pool after that narrowing and expansion pursuant to The Great Deluge can be seen in those with the greatest knowledge of these events, Evangelican and Pentecostal Christians.

Clearly it's been devastating. And sadly, for these folks, the Rapture is still in the future. All of that cleaving, and no Rapture yet.

Life ain't fair.
