Current Events » in reply to So, what does Obama mean by "civilian national security force?"

Why not pay attention to what the man said about it. (Hint: Sorry, it's not Blackwater.)

Sounds a lot like Kennedy and the Peace Corps. (Try "Google", enter "Obama" "national" "security" "force". Here's an example of what pops up.)

“We’re going to grow our Foreign Service, open consulates that have been shuttered and double the size of the Peace Corps by 2011 to renew our diplomacy,” Obama told the Colorado audience.

“We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded,” he said.

It sounds as if he intends to increase the peaceful presence of the US in the world, opening consulates which can help with mutual understanding and trade, sending civilians abroad to assist in community improvement projects.

For those of you who are locked into the Blackwater mentality Obama's ideas would seem tinged with treason.
