Can plants grow from LEDs?
I thought I would answer my own question by google
search:
http://www.superled.net/
Apparently they can:
LED grow light replaces a 400 watt HID!
* Uses only 100 watts
* 75% power reduction
* Completely eliminate heat
* Uses super bright CREE LEDs
* 7 year light lifespan
* Fantastic growing results!
* 2-year limited warranty
Hmm.
HID: "Name: High Intensity Discharge Lamps
Description: There are three major types of high intensity discharge (HID) bulbs. They are the mercury vapor, the high pressure sodium, and the metal halide. "
It seems awful expensive and not as long lifetimes as I thought it could be. But it seems to me that LEDs for plant growing is probably the future.
