Go watch the movie "Dave". Part of the subplot is that the head of his security detail when he begins the charade is just doing his job, going through the motions, doing the duty he's been assigned.
However, because Dave is such a quality individual, the man grows to admire and respect him by the end even states he would have taken a bullet for him.
From everything I've seen about Obama he's intensely likable and garners respect from those around him. My guess is that the Secret Service agents assigned to him are part of his team now, fiercely loyal, and would reject any orders from the current administration to not give full protection or participate in any plan to have harm come his way.
That said, my son who's a freshman in high school tells me he's disturbed by a handful of other students that are openly stating they hope he gets killed. Teenagers are often extremist in their talk so it's not so much them I fear. It's that the ideas are probably being fostered by their racist parents. It's still a part of our lives. Being an American means living in a country that's always had an undercurrent of violence as a way of pushing political and religious agendas. I have to hope we're slowly evolving past that.
