I'd throw all of those numbers right out the window and start with something new.

I made an attempt at downloading some education statistics Excel 'sheets from this site: http://nces.ed.gov/programs/digest/d07/.

My goal was to sort by the most recent year, move State names into an Obama Column or a McCain column, and delete all the other year's info. And then somehow copy the result into an hz post that made sense.

I could have done it, I think, with a version of Excel from 10 years ago, but with this monster that came with my computer, I just don't know what I'm doing. That and the trial copy/paste/preview that I did looks like shit, anyway. I unconditionally surrender, after spending about 1.5 hours screwing around with it (it took me 5 minutes to find the goddamn undo key!).

Anyhow, there are statistics by state and year for things like reading and math performance, dropout rates, graduation rates, etc.
