The problem with the Bush years is that while sociologically we contracted (that includes wiping away our civil rights and allowing torture, etc.), economically we expanded out and let things go out of control. The Bush Administration was warned and warned of the problem with the Housing Market and chose to ignore it. This is the result. The Housing Bubble burst and took the rest of the economy down with it. Bush and his people are idiots with idiotic policies and anyone still favoring free-markets is also an idiot.
