Man, do you have any idea how many countries our warships visit?
It's staggering. Russian warships sailing into Venezuela was made into a big deal for one reason only. It was great for political drama.
Of course the Russians were pushing buttons with it but my guess is it was more for a laugh than anything else. Let's face it. If they really want to screw with us or threaten us militarily, there are much better ways of doing it.
The Russians are cozy with lots of countries, many of which have unstable governments or are dictatorships. Compared to the days when their primary means of foreign involvement consisted of armed invasions, this seems pretty innocuous.
