On this, Republicans and Democrats are pretty much all the same.

Democratic voters have determinedly ignored the actual results of the Great Reform Congress of the 2006 election, turning a blind eye to two years of enthusiastic business as usual in areas like lobbying, influence, pork, etc. Anybody expecting miracles now is going to be disappointed.

Obama will come up with some foggy idealistic program, turn it over to the Congress, and there will be a bi-partisan pig stampede like you've never seen before. Real needs will be swept aside for showy projects that will inflate egos and pump money into districts with the most political pull and industries who have been the most generous with political donations.

People investing in startup companies or new tech would do a lot more for the economy than make-work construction in places it's probably not really needed. Trouble is, that growth is not as obvious to perceptual mentalities, and there aren't the same photo opportunities for politicians. There's a reason Senators have their names on so many highways and buildings, quite a few of them superfluous.
