Eat your heart out Harlen Ellison
Good story by a great writer. The message is clear but I don't see it as prophetic at all.
The elite will inherit the earth
I see a planned, stratified society in the distant future, with reasonable upward mobility. It will be a keep up or drop out proposition. Perhaps gloomy by current standards but not as apocalific as Vonnegut projects.
A well fed world with everyone happy in their own skin. After all everyone does not wish to live forever :)
