re: That's one giant leap for a man.

"How you went from my post to yours is a complete mystery. Mine was a comment on the fact that some of yesterday's pseudoscience has become mainstream."

Pseudoscience has always been "mainstream". That's a characteristic of it.

For instances: Dissecting human corpse may been outlawed or frowned upon and it today's society it's allowed under certain circumstances- but dissecting corpses wasn't pseudoscience. And just because corpses
are cut up doesn't validate past axe murdering.

At some point we may be able to detect alien civilization. At our current capability, detecting alien civilizations seems unlikely- but one no says SETI is pseudoscience.

Science which couldn't done before, becomes science that can be done, but pseudoscience hasn't become science.

So in the future it's possible we will scientifically study ghosts or UFOs- this doesn't change that present efforts are pseudoscience.
As I said it's not the topic, it's the method it's pursued.

And as I said all the pseudoscience crap is not helping those attempting to approach the topic in a scientific manner- if anything, it's seriously hindering it.

And finally your post was about banishing certain ideas. My point was it's not idea or topics which have been banished.

Spam could be saving children is Africa or helping someone transfer large sums of money form one account to another- the topic of the spam is not the determining factor.
