"Entitlements" are not the problem. Taking care of citizens is the number one responsibility of government. That means defense, not offense, law enforcement, not breaking the laws, and finally, not imperialism.
The problems are the derivatives being purchased by Bush's Treasury department, the hedge funds being bailed out, the debt from useless, cruel foreign wars.
I really don't understand how someone could regard optional war as more important than, for instance, children's health care. Killing kids rather than healing them.
Bush inherited a surplus which could have been used for good, and instead was squandered on state-sponsored terrorism.
"Entitlements" are well named. Citizens are the most important component of a republic, not corporate profit at the expense of citizens.
And I'm aware you will never understand that. I've come to accept that conservatives aren't faking that, and that the welfare of the majority of people is completely unimportant to them.
And that many of the smile brightly, sing loudly and wave a hand in church most Sunday's. And that some of the sermons are about the 12 y/o Jesus raising hell with the bankers, and maybe even a few more on the Sermon on the Mount.
One can accept that. Even be amused. Until they see money used to slaughter people which could have been used to heal people.
And one can accept the Conservative agenda of driving the country bankrupt in order to stop funding social programs and finish the process of economic enslavement of most people.
