where I supported the Shrub? For more than five years I've been critical of him. Here, many times. The spending, the inroads into our privicy, erosion of hard-won freedoms, the claims about Iraq. The Republicans in Washington today are not those I agreed with many years ago, which is why I am now a registered Independant. I did not vote for him last election, and voted for him very reluctantly the first time.

Another point, Religious fanatacism is dangerous from any sect. Be it Christian, Islam, Hindi or whatever. In my eyes, many of those claiming to be Republican these days are simply thinly vieled fanatics with a specific agenda to force the rest of us into their ideals and views. That also extends top those who believe they, and only they, have the right ideas. And firmly hold that the rest of us are so brain-dead we can't take care of ourselves. That sort frightens me most.

I freely admit to supporting the action in Iraq, in the beginning. Then the details started oozing out of the mess. No WMD, insufficient troop levels, critical details from the Intel agencies ommitted, no plan for reconstruction, ad nauseum.

And I publically stated my mistake in that support here a while back. I believe the post heading was "Mea Culpa" either in COmmunity or Off-topic.. Unsure. If I am wrong about something I admit it. I don't apologize for admitting it, but I apologize for being wrong. Lord knows I am often enough. And I did so here, plainly in direct terms.

You and I both are sadly aware of what happens when a Politician(s) decides what he believes to be right supercedes the right and will of the Majority. When they hold that their ideals outweigh the Constitution. Then you have Que, the Delta, Gitmo and thousands of fine young men and women in harms way while the Foundations of this country are eroded.

You have the right to your opinions, ideals and views. You stood up and offered yourself to protect them, as did many of us.

But, do not accuse me of something I have not done.
