The sum of the deficits between FY 2001 and 2008 (inclusive) is about $2.13 trillion. Note that for the last two years the Democrats ran Congress, and we didn't exactly see an onslaught of sudden fiscal discipline.
This single "stimulus" bill is already 40 percent of that amount, and Obama isn't even in office yet.
