But then, I am more of a realism and traditional artist. I do appreciate a good abstract.

I see so many great artists out there out of the limelight. These artists are making their own living, and not getting any special funding, or help, from the government. They are not going for any shock value either.

I might have told this story before, but I remember a trip to a gallery for an art class. It was mainly large canvases with different colors of paint splashed on them. I wasn’t impressed. I could duplicate them by splashing paint across a canvass in a few minutes.

The art teacher asked us each what we thought of it. After hearing answers like “I think the blues across the red shape represents…” she got to me.

I said something along the lines, “I see where someone spent about 10 minutes throwing a few dollars of paint on a $30 canvas, and then suckered someone else into paying thousands for it.”
