Kidding aside...
I LOVE toads...and consider it an honor to have them in my bushes. I will not use pesticides if I can at all avoid it.
Diatomaceous earth I have heard works well for this.
Snakes were always the critter of choice at my house. Sammy, the garter snake received many a ride on my sons' Fisher Price train set. I took Sammy out in the warm grass one day.. with his mouth he grabbed onto a blade of grass...and flipped over and died. I was devastated for my son.
I rescued a turtle...and kept him in a kiddy pool in the summers. He loved june bugs.
For me, it is the memories surrounding these little guys that breaks my heart when they pass....
