At that screen resolution, 1 metre away, that's about the apparent size of Venus to my eye. Earth is a small blob, but not a single point.
NOW, imagine it as a crescent. That's what Venus looks like to me...
(And yes, I admit my eyes are scarily good - I used to have 40:20 vision - I could see at 40' what an average person could see at 20'. But don't worry, life is fair - my hearing has always been below average...)
