Tom, your comment had nothing to do with what we were talking about.

This post wasn't about seeking power. It's about being in awe of someone's personal magnetism and celebrity. The people at that rally aren't looking for handouts and for Obama's personal impact on their life. They are there because they feel a part of history. They'll have a tale to tell of their involvement with an epic figure. It was exactly the same thing that occurred when Bush supporters drooled over him at his rallies.

What you're talking about you don't see at a public event like this one. It occurs behind the scenes in the cocktail parties and power lunches.

What's particularly egregious about your post is that it never once occurred during Bush's term in office despite all the people going gaga over his bluster and actions. You sat silent as groups of people, church congregations, and media personalities anointed Bush their personal savior. You never found outrage at the oil companies and defense contractors that were there at the trough doing exactly what you just outlined during Bush's eight year reign. Maybe that's what you meant in your post. Just possibly you really were talking about supporters of all politicians of both sides. Somehow, from your history, I think not.
