Celebrity can be daunting.
I met Lily Tomlin once. She's always been a favorite of mine.
She performed a beta version of "Search for Intelligent Life in the Universe" and afterward someone held a reception for her. I was invited.
Tomlin was sitting at a table signing autographs and there was quite a line. I hung around and watched. The line disappeared and I was thinking about approaching her when she said, "Hello", and called me over.
So help me I could not think of a thing to say. If at that moment she had told me to unzip my pants and water one of the plants I would have done it. We shook hands, she exchanged pleasantries, I babbled and mercifully it was over.
A high point in my life, really. But not my finest hour.
