Adolph Hitler had "magnetism and celebrity." While Obama is no Hitler, I do not consider those traits to be near the top of my list of what makes a good leader, unless what you're leading is sheep. Obama is doing the town meetings because he's a lot more comfortable campaigning right now than he is being president. You might be surprised if you actually matched up against him in knowledge of government. At least the principles involved.
Bush supporters cheered at his rallies, wore hats, and waved signs. I don't recall anyone drooling over him, praying to him for manna from the State, or selling T-shirts of him as the Lamb of God.
As for the rest, I have criticized the kind of behavior I am talking about long before Obama, and long before Bush. I have been a consistent foe of corporate/State circle jerking, and you can look up my comments on Archer Daniels Midland among others. Companies in the old days took advantage of their positions at the King's court. There's no place for that crap in a free society.
My criticisms on this board of Bush, Republican big government policies, or big-government corporations generally went in one ear and out the other because they didn't fit the simple-minded cartoon views people wanted to have of me. Of COURSE I worshipped everything Bush did. All conservatives did, didn't they?
And haven't you heard? I get all my political philosophy from Rush Limbaugh.
Cripes. I was a classic free-market libertarian when Limbaugh was still doing sports.
Flame » in reply to Tom, your comment had nothing to do with what we were talking about.
