"However, I am willing to bet a new highest-ever annual temp in the instrumental record will happen in the next five years, or bet that no record low for the instrumental record will happen in the same time."
Does this satellite record of lower atmospheric temperature count as an instrumental record?
Or perhaps is there a recently updated temperature record you consider is more accurate and obviously you consider has adequately adjusted for UHI affects.
If so, can provide a link?
According to graph linked above, which is a few months old, from Sept '08 satellite measurement, you need one year increase of at least .6 C to occur within the next 5 years or in either 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, or 2013.
Or just in time period of satellite measurement, since 1979, you also betting temperature over next 5 years global surface temperatures will not drop by more than -.6 to.7 C compared to Sept 08 [obviously over a longer period of instumental record, you could mean by around -1 C or more].
I don't think it is likely that global surface will drop by more than 1 C in the next 5 years.
And I think if global temperature in next 5 year in one year it peaks by .6 and thereby meets or exceed 1998 record temperature, that this would actually indicates a rapid rise in global temperature- particularly if we have a El Nino event similar to 1998. Though one could then [assuming this actually occurred], have some credibility when you say that global temperatures were rising rather remaining flat to declining.
But this isn't actually betting on warming trend much dissimilar than the 20th Century [around .6 C per century] nor would this be anywhere near enough to cause sea level to rise significantly.
And generally indicates a lack of confidence that large increases in CO2 from human activity will or has caused any significant warming.
