I've seen a launch from Vandenberg from the Bay Area.

Space/Science » in reply to I just looked it up - Vandenberg AFB is within range.

It was a night launch, and it was launched in a northerly direction, so I actually got a better look at it from my observing sight near Skyline Drive than I get of the Florida launches. But a lot of the Vandenberg work is spook stuff, and not very well publicized.
