I didn't expect much from the original series, though a sense of nostalgia
(and the actress who played Athena) tend to make me forgive it.
So they didn't know the difference between a solar system and a
galaxy. So they used the same FX shots over and over. So they had
advanced alien beings who stood in for gods, angels, and devils. I
knew Donald Bellasario was a hack, just like Irwin Allen. Of course
when did that ever stop someone in Hollywood from making fame and
fortune.
And don't get me started on Galactica 1980, ever.
But the reimaged BSG was supposed to be different. It was supposed
to change the way science fiction was portrayed on the screen. And
they took us along for four whole years, only to do what the original
series would have done in the end.

But we knew the original BSG was just a Star Wars knockoff
