Most bullets miss. Even though they had the potential to do great harm, they missed and did no harm. None at all.

I believe it would be a mistake to stand up, thumb one's nose at the foe, and go about business exactly as usual. Getting shot at is serious, and sooner or later one will hit. Whether it grazes, wounds or kills is dependent at least partially on what precautions are taken prior to the shot.
