Strategic power supply

Look, the issue should never really come up. The proper niche for solar power is widely distributed small power supply on buildings, in yards, and other places where the added power can reduce the loads on conventional systems. Cheap solar arrays scattered across Arizona cities could make a measurable dent in peak power loads in the summer.

The idea that we can run the United States on solar and wind is a pipe dream, and is primarily being used as a political lever right now by people who are counting on the technological ignorance of their constituents.

A gigawatt nuclear plant occupies a few acres, and runs all the time.
