What Doppler effect?

Bucks' post refered to a drop in brightness due to transit- not a shift in wavelenghth, or did i miss something?

These two statements are equivalent:

You said-
If they are in the plane of our ecliptic, any Doppler effect caused by planetary revolutions are exaggerated. Also, they can see the transit of Earth across Sol.

I said-
For them to "see" us, Like Tom said they have to be in our elciptic...
------------------------

If they are trying to signal us, using this logic, they will be clustered along our ecliptic

I just assumed that they would have come to the same conclusion that we have- it makes more sense to listen rather than transmit.
