Whether anybody with a radio telescope is there or not, the Gliese 581
system - which has four known planets, one of which may be able to
sustain life - will be getting a message from a selection of Earth humans
in the year 2029:
To quote from the Wikipedia entry on this METI event:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Message_From_Earth
"A Message From Earth (AMFE) is a high-powered digital radio signal that was sent on 9 October 2008 towards Gliese 581 c, a large terrestrial extrasolar planet orbiting the red dwarf star Gliese 581. The signal is a digital time capsule containing 501 messages that were selected through a competition on the social networking site, Bebo. The message was sent using the RT-70 radar telescope of Ukraine's National Space Agency. The signal is expected to reach Gliese 581c in early 2029.[1] More than half a million people including celebrities and politicians participated in the AMFE project, which was the world's first digital time capsule where the content was selected by the public."
I also know for a fact that shortly after the first exoplanets were found
in 1995, several SETI project aimed their radio telescopes at them for a
time to litne for potential signals, even though the odds of those
systems have native life forms, or at least the exoworlds they found,
seem pretty slim, being Hot Jupiters and all.
Then again, as I said elsewhere in this thread, advanced ETI could be
in those systems and we might get lucky, or unlucky depending on what
type of beings they are.

Humans did send a "digital time capsule" to the Gliese 581 system in 2008
