No one has ever spoken for the Democratic Party.
They are a diverse and quarrelsome bunch that extends from well into the ranks of what used to be called moderate Republicans out into the wacko lands of the loony left.
Republicans today tend to prefer the comfort and security of a party line. That's why they are spending so much time now accusing each other that pundits feel the need to find out who their spokesman is, and why so many of them are scrambling for the post.
