Now, it may not have been alcohol. I've been that messed up on a combination of tranquilizers and narcotics in the form of pain pills.

And it may have been alcohol.

And check Cheney's track record. Pretty much everyone says he changed from his old congressional and presidential aide days. Meaner, and so on. Alcoholism is progressive. (Why did he disappear for 12 hours after shooting his friend?)
