"U.S. student 'not at home' night roommate died."

Story Highlights

"American student Amanda Knox takes stand in well-publicized murder trial in Italy."

"British student Meredith Kercher found dead in house shared with Knox in 2007."

"Prosecutors say they have evidence placing Knox, other defendants at scene."

"Knox's former boyfriend, Italian Raffaele Sollecito, also faces murder charges."

The prosecutor in this case has as sordid a record as is possible to have. While it's true Amanda Knox isn't a very sympathetic character, she lied her ass off at various times and was wasted on illegal drugs, there still isn't any credible evidence against her. This is a sensation in Italy, though, and it sure looks as if popular sentiment may convict her.

A travesty.
