Driving without seat belts will get you a stiff fine in Florida these days. Of course, when you get into a car, or when you show up mangled at an emergency room, you are making your personal freedom someone else's problem.
And guess who lobbied for this law? It wasn't government pinheads, it was those nanny capitalists at the auto insurance companies. Of course, I guess THAT makes it all right in your book.
I suppose passing laws putting safety triggers on chain saws or finger guards on meat slicers would violate your libertarian instincts too.
The amount of potential death and injury avoided must be balanced against the administrative headaches, expense and inconvenience caused by any safety regulation. This is a valid consideration, and should be debated. But your galvanic response to a simple safety measure on a common kitchen tool tells me you're much more interested in making a non existent point that supports your dubious propositions.
All knives have NOT "been made illegal", no one's even proposed it, and no, it is not "a matter of time" before it happens. That just couples so well with your paranoia.
Oh, and how about those scissors with rounded points they give to school kids to indoctrinate them in nanny state dogma...oooooooooooooooooH.
TB, that there is too much unnecessary and unfair regulation is something everyone agrees with you on. Everybody. And it should be debated on practical and reasonable grounds. But your need to blame all the ills of the world, to twist everything, into some collectivist conspiracy makes it very difficult to take you seriously any more. It's political anomalism, pure and simple, no different from Nostradamus and von Daniken.

No, you're the one who brought it up.
