Ten years ago if someone had told me the Federal government would make selling incandescent light bulbs illegal, I would have been as skeptical as you are.

The abstract issue, which is separate from the specific and seemingly trivial issues of light bulbs or knives, is that government seems to have no limits whatsoever on its range of interference with our lives. The doctors can't make pointed knives illegal, but it's plain that they, as intelligent people, seem to believe that their own government would have that power if it chose to use it.

These individual incidents are points that form a curve. I'm still looking for the stopping point. I haven't seen one yet.
