Looking for the pivot point

Lindy, during your future examinations, look for the pivot points that may be at the center of the circles. Even better, look for the pivots of half circles and arcs that might exist outside of the design itself. The picture you linked to has a good example of this. The two semi-circles have center points that are are in the middle of undisturbed crops. But the makers might have left footprints in that area that you normally would not look for.

If you recall your high school geometry, if you need to find a center point of an arc, find a cord of the arc (the straight line between two points on the arc) and move perpendicular to that cord towards the center. Do this for two cords and their perpendiculars will intersect at the center.

The "code" is creative, but would be really easy to create. Overall that design is not that complicated. As I mentioned on HZ.net, if you see five-fold symmetry, that's creative! Or at least the artists brought along a protractor or compass.

Also, don't get carried away with reports of malfunctioning electronics. There was a case in Colorado Springs a few years back where some new military communication equipment was set up and it was making cars not unlock, garage doors opening and closing on their own, and all kinds of other interference.

Something I was going to try while making sand circles was to get a long piece of rope or string and attach one of those small rescue strobe lights on one end, then swing the light around at various speeds and radii. If timed correctly, the strobe would appear to move in a mystical manner. If I were a circle hoaxer, I'd have some fun with that.

Sounds like you'll have a busy summer, hope you have fun!
