From Europe

There are writings in Europe about a celestial phenomenon in 1054....but not on july 4 1054, well around april 1054.

The chinese who located the event on july 4, wrote it about a century after the event.

In Europe, the Supernova in 1006 was reported and the comet in 1066, so no "religious" reason why a supernova would not be reported in 1054.
