But the bad ones who don't really, really stand out.
And if you've ever been the victim of, or a witness to, police misconduct, it leaves a very powerful, lasting impression on you, and you'll always be much more skeptical of the motives and intentions of the cops you see out there.
I will say that state and federal law enforcement officers generally have a much higher level of training and professionalism, and meet higher standards, than the local town and city cops.
And TB is right on with his comments about the far right also having serious issues with authority. It was the NRA who once called federal law enforcement agents "jack-booted government thugs" and it was one far right nut-case who recommended that people shoot federal agents in the head when they come to your door.

- Is respect for the law only a conservative value?
- No. Law is a system, though, and not embodied in the persons of those we hire to enforce it.
- re: "So who's right here? The left, with an actual prejudice against law enforcement, or the right who see a need for it, inclusive of it's current flaws."
- Whoa there, podner, I'm a leftie and I respect cops.
- Most law enforcement officers are highly professional and do a great job
- Of course not.
- I have a lot of respect for police as an organization
