You know, I've had it up to my eyebrows with "The Republicans" being blamed for all the country's ills.

Reality check:

The Republican Party controlled Congress and the Senate for a grand total of 12 years from 1995 through 2006. Only half that time it was with a Republican president, and with two years out of that when Jeffords threw the Senate to the Democrats.

Liberals are getting one hell of a lot of blame mileage out of those last six years--on energy, the economy, and probably sports teams having lousy seasons. Odd that the Republican Congress and Senate never gets any credit at all for those first six years, and the only surplus we'd seen for decades and are likely to see for many more.

Do you remember the first "energy crisis?" Was it the Republicans who tried to fix it with rationing and other idiotic ideas back then? Was it the Republicans who murdered nuclear power in this country when countries like France went on to make it a non-emitting mainstay of their electrical power system?

We've had various "alternative energy programs" for over thirty years, most of which went nowhere without massive subsidies since the people pushing them--not Republicans for the most part--were butt-ignorant on basic economics and technology.
