Emphasize the jobs aspect
From the guy who welds and bolts the metal plates to the scientific
specialist who will search for life on Mars, emphasize how many new jobs
this bold adventure will make - which it will. That's what people will
care about most when the project is boiled down to its basics. We can
add the stuff about exploring the unknown and preserving humanity on
other worlds afterwards.
